Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu: Coimbatore’s Smart City initiative has brought forth a distinctive homage to the legendary Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, in the form of a 25-foot-tall steel statue ingeniously constructed using Tamil characters.

Weighing a substantial 2.5 tonnes, this captivating statue beautifully weaves together 1,330 interconnected Tamil characters, symbolising each of Thiruvalluvar’s insightful “Thirukkural” couplets. Poised near the picturesque Kurichikulam lakefront, an integral part of the city’s endeavour to rejuvenate its lakes, this remarkable creation is expected to be officially unveiled upon confirmation from the Chief Minister’s Office.

This endeavour is part of a comprehensive Rs 50-crore undertaking aimed at revitalising Kurichikulam, complete with sculptures capturing the essence of Tamil culture and its vibrant festivals.

This innovative fusion of language, art, and heritage is destined to become a prominent draw for tourists in Coimbatore. MSME Promotion Council Vice Chairman Dr C Suresh Kumar Coimbatore extended a warm welcome to this artistic endeavour.
