Global SME Finance Forum 2023

The MSME Promotion Council (MSMEPC) today welcomed the 9th edition of the Global SME Finance Forum, which commenced in Mumbai. The forum is being organised by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.

The forum is bringing together financial institutions, technology companies, and development finance institutions to share knowledge, spur innovation, and promote the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The theme of this year’s forum is “Financing the Future of SMEs.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, MSMEPC Chairman Shri Ajay Seth said that the forum is a timely initiative to address the challenges faced by SMEs in accessing finance. He said that the government is committed to supporting the growth of SMEs and that the forum will provide a platform to discuss and implement innovative solutions to address the financing gap.

The SME Finance Forum 2023 will run for two days and will feature a number of sessions and panel discussions on topics such as digital finance for SMEs, green finance for SMEs, and financing for women-owned SMEs.

The forum is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate and develop solutions to address the financing challenges faced by SMEs.

“The SME Finance Forum is a unique platform that brings together the entire ecosystem of SME finance,” said IFC India CEO Mr. Sanjiv Krishan. “This year’s forum is particularly timely, as it comes at a time when SMEs are facing a number of challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. We are confident that the forum will provide valuable insights and solutions to help SMEs overcome these challenges and thrive.”

The SME Finance Forum 2023 is being held in partnership with the Government of India, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).

The forum is expected to attract over 500 participants from across India and the world.
