New Delhi, India – September 26, 2023 – The MSME Promotion Council (MSMEPC) celebrated the 82nd foundation day of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on September 26, 2023, at its headquarters in New Delhi. The event was attended by senior officials from MSMEPC, CSIR, and other government agencies, as well as representatives from the MSME sector.

Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Director General, CSIR, was the Chief Guest of the event. In his keynote address, Dr. Mande emphasised the importance of CSIR in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the MSME sector. He highlighted some of the key initiatives that CSIR has taken to support MSMEs, such as the CSIR-Industry Collaborative Research (CIR) scheme, the CSIR-MSME Innovation Hubs, and the CSIR-Technology Business Incubators.

Dr. Mande also announced that CSIR and MSMEPC will be working together to launch a new scheme to support MSMEs in developing and commercialising new technologies. The scheme will provide MSMEs with access to CSIR’s expertise and resources, as well as financial assistance.

Mr. Anil Bhardwaj, Chairman, MSMEPC, spoke at the event, saying that the MSME sector is the backbone of the Indian economy and that CSIR plays a vital role in supporting the growth of this sector. He welcomed the new scheme that CSIR and MSMEPC are launching to support MSMEs in developing and commercialising new technologies.

The event also featured a panel discussion on the topic of “CSIR-MSME Partnership for Innovation and Growth.” The panellists included Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Director General, CSIR; Mr. Anil Bhardwaj, Chairman, MSMEPC; and representatives from the MSME sector.

The panel discussion focused on the importance of the CSIR-MSME partnership in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the MSME sector. The panellists also discussed the challenges that MSMEs face in accessing new technologies and how the new scheme that CSIR and MSMEPC are launching can help to address these challenges.
