Chennai, India – Global shipping and logistics leader UPS announced today the opening of its first India Technology Centre in Chennai. The centre, which is spread over an area of 51,000 square feet, will focus on developing new technologies for UPS’s global operations.
UPS has invested $15-20 million in the India Technology Centre, which is expected to create 1,000 jobs by 2025. The centre will initially hire 100 engineers and technologists, with a focus on artificial intelligence, automation, and robotics.

The India Technology Centre will focus on developing new technologies in the following areas:
- Artificial intelligence: UPS is using AI to automate tasks, improve customer service, and make its operations more efficient.
- Automation: UPS is using automation to reduce costs and improve safety.
- Robotics: UPS is using robotics to handle complex tasks, such as loading and unloading trucks.
The India Technology Centre will also work on developing new technologies for UPS’s e-commerce business. E-commerce is a major growth driver for UPS, and the company is investing in new technologies to meet the needs of e-commerce customers.
